Super Typhoon Ondoy, A Teacher In Disguise For Those Who Desert Nature
The environment has its own way of making humanity realize what we have done; and it was proven by what had happened in the Philippines just a couple of weeks ago. Although the modifications in the everyday weather was very noticeable, it was not until the super typhoon “Ondoy’s” coming that people became conscious of the aberrant and enormous difference. According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Ondoy was categorized as a category 5 super typhoon. The typhoon entered the Philippine area of responsibility and struck the land on September 29. The wind was not very much disturbing; but it was the tough and overabundance of rain that instigated all the disaster and destruction of numerous regions in Luzon (one of the main Philippine islands). Evaluation proves that the amount of rainfall on that very same day was predictably the average rainfall for a month; you can just imagine the quantity of water the sky had pelted down. Because of the immense amount of water, many local dams have to release the water they restrain for some had almost reached critical levels of spilling over. This worsened the situation for those who live nearby these dams.
The local government were not prepared for this kind of force majeure experience[/spin. A number of provinces in regions IV and V and the Philippine’s capital, Manila, were flooded and [spin]submerged. In a lot of areas, the water rose to knee, waist or chest level; but for several worst cases in low lands, the water sank down houses and establishments. Transportation was not viable. Transactions and businesses were frozen. Schools were sunk down and some were turned into evacuation centers. Soil erosion is happening making the gushing water mucky and the agricultural vicinities are nowhere to be found. Squeals, sobs and terror are everywhere. The rain continued for several days until finally the rain had stopped and man was able to see clearly the damage done. Losing assets – houses, cars and businesses are somehow acceptable but the lost of a family member or a friend or of just someone you know is something that will make a scar in your memory forever.
It was not viable to contest the force of nature. Although even from the start up to now that rescues and aids are seen everywhere, many lives were already lost and bodies gone missing, inexact when to find them or if they will ever be found. Nobody can scensure anyone for what happened; only that everybody knows deep in their consciousness that everybody was to be blamed and is guilty. This event is really heartrending but it is the same event that should show everyone concerned, or not, a priceless lesson that we all should bear with us for the rest of our limited lives. Our being and all about it is something we didn’t make out of our own and there is Someone that is so wise who did, so why desert it?-cait
