How Is Wine Made?
Hello. Today I’ll be continuing my types of alchol series. Thus far I have talked about beer and ale.
This article is going to be about Wine, and its different aspects. Wine, as far as alcohol goes, is a very common beverage. The use of wine has been dated back to 6000 BC. Wine is an extremely important drink, and is significant in both religious and social occasions. The word wine literally means “grape vine.”There is an enormous amount of variety when it comes to wine types.
You can make wine from nearly any sort of grape, apples, berries, barley, rice, and ginger. Each of these types of wine have their own flavors, tastes, and names. Easily, though, grape is the most popular.Grape’s become wine through the process of fermentation.
Since grapes have such a large concentration of sugar, there is no need to add other sources of sugars. Yeast converts the sugars into alcohol, and the result is wine. Different strains of yeast are used depending on the type of wine and flavor. Wine is usually made from different strains of a grape species called Vitis Vinifera. Some wines are also made from hybrid grapes, or grapes that have been genetically altered with other types of grapes. As most beer is created in breweries, most wine is made in vineyards, where the grapes are grown.
If you go searching for different types of wine, you might bump into a vintage wine. Vintage wines are created from grapes that were all harvested the same year. Vintage wines for each year generally have the same taste. This is because they all came from the same grape.
After the wine is finished and ready for consumption, it usually goes through a tasting process. This is centered on judging the color and taste of the wine. The first step in the tasting process is judging the color. Based on which vineyard the grapes come from, the color changes. Next, a wine taster tastes the wine.
Tasters try to pick out individual flavor and ingredient, no matter how small. Lastly, the aroma is judged. Wine aroma is made by the release of compounds in the wine. An easy way to vaporize these is to swirl your wine glass. Serving at room temperature may also be helpful.Lastly, wine is often collected. Rare wines from certain vineyards can sell for thousands of dollars. Usually, though, fine wine costs from $30-50.
Many people devote whole cellars for the collection of wines. The wine can age in this environment, and when it’s ready to be consumed, it’s delicious. That’s it for today’s article. I hope you learned something about wine you didn’t know before. Thanks for reading about alchohol!
