Tracing A Cell Phone Number – What Are The Options?
Tracing a cell phone number is something we’ve all had to do at some point in our lives, many of us for different reasons. For most of us it’s something as candid as having a missed calls on our cell phones and needing to find out who it was that called us. This is especially true for those of us who are dealing with banks or debt collectors and are immediately nervous every time the phone rings.
For others the reasons for wanting to trace a cell number are not so candid. Perhaps it’s a mystery number on your husband or wife’s phone bill and you think he could be cheating? Or perhaps you’re an employer and you know your employees have been making personal calls but just can’t catch them out.
Whatever the reasons are, tracing a cell phone number is important. The easiest and by far the cheapest way to do this is to type the number into Google. If the number comes up – although this is rare – then problem solved. The only problem with this method, aside from it not working all the time is that you aren’t immediately presented with the name and address of the owner.
The alternative is to use a reverse lookup service. A reverse lookup service is basically a database of cell phone numbers which you can search and lookup the name and address of the cell phone owner.
Reverse lookup services are quite a new phenomenon and have only come about thanks to the internet. Before the internet there was absolutely no way to tracking down the owner of a cell phone number however now the task is quite simple.
Reverse lookup databases aren’t free, however they are not expensive either. Tracing a cell phone number is also relatively quick as – if the number is in the database – you will instantly be shown details of the owner.
Why aren’t reverse directories free you might ask? The reason for this is quite simple. While there are plenty of free directories of landlines and business numbers, there aren’t any official directories or databases of cell phone numbers. Tracing a cell phone number therefore costs the reverse directories money as they have to buy the details from cell phone carriers. They also have to pay staff to enter the phone numbers into their databases.
If the number you want to lookup is a listed landline number or a business number you will be able to look this up for free. The only costs are for unlisted or mobile cell phone numbers.
Whatever you reasons for performing a reverse cell phone number lookup – whether you think your spouse is cheating or you are just a little curious – reverse directories provide the ultimate solution for finding out just who exactly owns that cell phone.
